LOUIS GUEVARA AYALA
September 16 1932----October 19 2018
Louis Guevara Ayala passed away at home in Gilroy, California on October 19, 2018 at the age of 86 surrounded by his devoted family. He suffered with Parkinson disease. Louis is survived by his wife Dolores, son Louis Ayala ,daughter in law Lois Ayala, and two sisters Esther Reyes and Sara “Cookie” Lopez.
He was born on September 16, 1932 in Cucamonga California to Luz Ayala and Josephine Guevara. At about age five he moved to the Coyote area to live with Grandma and Grandpa Guevara and his Aunt Bina and Pilar Ortega. He grew up on a ranch and attended both Live Oak High School and James Lick High School from which he graduated. At age 21 he joined the US Marine Corps. He served three active years and four years active reserve. He finished is time in the service as a corporal. While he was in the service he was stationed in Hawaii and Japan as a mortar man. Following his military service, Louis married Dolores Aguilar on February 8, 1958 in St Mary’s Catholic Church in Gilroy. He began working at Bonesio Winery on Watsonville and Day Road. He retired from Simonsen Labs after 32 years of employment. Their only son Louis Ayala was born at Wheeler Hospital on October 24, 1958.
Louis was preceded in death by three brothers Ernie, Manual and Leandro Ayala and two sisters Nora Gonzales and Lupe Serrano.
Louis enjoyed fishing, camping, photography and watching the 49ers and the Warriors. His pride and joy were his grandsons Michael, Daniel, Patrick and Shawn Ayala. He was able to spend much of his time with them biking and camping. He also was an anonymous giver of service to those around him.
