Robert (Bob) John DeVincenzi passed away, on March 11, 2019. Robert, was a lifetime resident of San Jose; he was born, raised and lived his life in his beloved home town. Bob was the second born child of Louis and Eva De Vincenzi and the younger brother of Louis (Tootie) De Vincenzi. Bob graduated from San Jose High School and then joined the United States Army where he was stationed at Fort Ord, CA. After serving his country, Bob came home and married Gloria Zapar. He completed an AA degree from San Jose City College and enjoyed a happy, long marriage of 65 years. They had two children together, Michael and Lisa.
Bob started work as a paper boy in downtown San Jose, then worked for the San Jose Scavenger Company as a contributor to the family owned business, He continued his career in Customer Service at IBM and UNISYS, then shifted his focus and turned his passion for sports into a business, creating and selling sports memorabilia for other enthusiastic fans.
He spent many years as a devoted fan of Bay Area sports, which included many hours enjoying Giants, Warriors, Sharks and 49ers games, and wearing his collection of sports jackets, depending on the season. Bob was known for making fast friends, especially with anyone who shared his love of sports. Bob was a devoted husband and family man. He is survived by his wife Gloria, two children, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Bob’s family and friends will miss him dearly.
Family and friends will celebrate his life on Wednesday, March 20th at 10:30 am at the Saint Christopher Catholic Church located at 2278 Booksin Ave, San Jose, CA 95125. Light refreshments will be provided at a reception at the family home.
