Utufaasili Lagimaina Poutasi L. Tuiatua Laufasa

January 26, 1949 ~ January 22, 2018 (age 68)


Utufaasili Lagimaina Poutasi L. Tuiatua Laufasa, 68, joined the Lord on Monday, January 22, 2018, at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, after a short battle with cancer. She was born on January 26, 1949 in Sataua, Samoa to parents Leuluataatasi Mamea and Elena Fulisia Mataeliga. She was eldest of ten children, and had six brothers, and three sisters. Leota Sauni L Taulealeausumai,  Matalena Faagutu L Maiava, Filipo Taulealeausumai, Faalagilagi Ifo L Tialavea, Savea Patolo L Fiumalosi, Mataeliga Tagaloa L Fiumalosi, Situpe Punipuao L Bailey, Solasafune L Fiumalosi, Taulauniu L Fiumalosi.
She was happily married to Tuulima Laufasa Sr. for 49 years and he survives. They raised six kids, five sons and one daughter together in the bay area until they retired back to Samoa. Her surviving children are Laufasa, the eldest son, and his wife Shannan. Along with their 4 children. The second eldest son, is    Laveitigaotumua. The third eldest son, Joseph. Followed by James, the fourth son, and his wife Crystal. Along with their children, Joseph Jeremy (predeceased) Cherise Kalealani (18), and Liana Elena(8). The youngest of the sons, Tuulima Jr, and his wife Maricel. Along with their 3 children, Sinale'eteva Lagimaina (13), Fofogaole'atua Va'asili (11), and Ame'lia Poutasi (7). Lastly, her only daughter, Sina.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Watching them run around, playing, and laughing together made her the happiest mama. She dedicated her life to her children and family. Maina was a devout Catholic and would attend mass every day. She worshipped the Lord and was strong in her faith. She always put her faith in the Lord even in her last days. She would always say, “God is good!” She was loved by all and had a very friendly personality. She also enjoyed playing bingo and card games like poker with her children and family.

Viewing and Rosary services will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 4pm-8pm at Lincoln Glen Church, 2700 Booksin Ave, San Jose, Ca 95125.  A mass will be held promptly at 10am on Friday, February 23, 2018 at St Victor Church, 3108 Sierra Rd, San Jose, Ca 95132, followed by a precession and burial at her final resting place of Oak Hill Cemetery, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose Ca 95125.
