Veronica Shaheen, 76 passed away on Tuesday June 5, 2018 at her home in San Jose, California surrounded by her six children. Veronica was born in Fort Riley, Kansas, October 3, 1941 to Helen McGuire. She was raised in Oakland, California. Veronica is survived by her daughters Malinda Stalvey, Margaret McCahan, and Michelle Bissell: her sons David Milligan, Warren Payne and Jim Milligan; and her six grandchildren: Devin, Ryan, Nicholas, Connor, Kayla, and Gianna. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Esler Shaheen, and her father and mother, John and Helen Gadomski. After being a stay-at-home mom, Veronica worked for the Diabetes Society and later became a writer for the California State Employees Association. Veronica was a proud mother who made education a priority for her children. She loved spending time with her husband and family, vacationing in Tahoe, Monterey, Santa Cruz, and coastal locations throughout California. She also loved being a grandmother and watching her grandchildren grow up. She volunteered at the Suicide and Crisis hotline where she met Esler and at the Centre for Living with Dying. A celebration of life will be held June 21, 2018, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Lincoln Glen Church, 2700 Booksin Avenue, San Jose, CA 95125.
