Clara M. Morfin
July 26, 1926 - June 14, 2020
Resident of San Jose, CA
Clara Mendez Morfin passed away peacefully holding the hands of her beloved daughter, grandson, and caregiver on June 14, 2020 after 93 wonderful years of life. Clara was the loving wife of Frank Joseph Morfin for 69 years before he went to Heaven in 2018; their marriage and love story were an inspiration to us all. She was a wonderful Mommy to Linda Morfin Carter (Scott Carter) and #1 Grandma to Michael Joseph Carter. Clara was born in Gary, Indiana and grew up in South Chicago with her beloved mom and dad, and her 4 siblings.
She was an honors student in school. She always wanted to go to college, but didn't have the financial means to do so. She made her dreams of college come true for her daughter, Linda. Clara was a fashionista and amazing cook. Clara valued family deeply, taking in her own siblings to live with her after her mom passed away. She was always there for her family and friends; everyone could count on her.
Clara's love story with her husband Frank was one for the ages. Through tough times and good times, their abiding love for one another was the constant. From winning dance contests doing the jitterbug to hosting countless family and friend gatherings, Clara and Frank built a life full of love and happiness. They served as a role model for the ideal relationship to all who knew them - they always stood by each other and were there for each other, no matter what. Frank said it best about Clara: "Clarita la Bonita. You straightened me out and I appreciate that. You were the best wife. You're an angel. I'd marry you anytime again." Frank and Clara are reunited in heaven, dancing, laughing, and talking together - they are angels watching over us until we can be reunited with them again one day.
