Hoa Van Duong, 69, of San Jose passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Hoa was born in the seaside village of Phan Thiet, Viet Nam and was one of ten children.
During the Vietnam War, Hoa was a member of the South Vietnamese Army platoon TD202 DPQ Phan Thiet. He left his country and fled to a Malaysian refugee camp, taking along his younger brother, sister and two nephews. It was in the refugee camp where he met his wife, Phuong Dung. They were married almost 40 years.
Hoa moved to California to start his family. He worked as a skilled mechanic until his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed tending his garden and sharing the fruits of his labor.
He was a loving father and doting husband. Hoa will be remembered for his generosity, honesty, and dedication to his family.
Hoa is survived by his wife, four daughters, two sons, and granddaughter.
Due to the pandemic, CDC allows a maximum of 10 people for funeral visitation at a time.
