Renato V. Guirao was a man of steel- a real life Iron Man- who had gone through countless ailments before finally losing the battle for his life on March 3, 2020. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Candida, and his children, Renato, Paul, James, Mark, and his dog, Cali.
Renato was born in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on February 15, 1937 to the Honorable Bartolome and Florencia Vazquez Guirao. In 1967, he joined the United States Navy. He was assigned to the Atlantic and Pacific fleets, including Subic Bay Naval Base in the Philippines. During his time there, he led the Civic Action Program, which was a US Social program that helped supply educational books and materials to schools and local communities within the region. Because he was stationed all over the world, he had the opportunity to travel to many different countries. Renato was honorably discharged from the Navy in the year 1990, for a total of 23 years of service.
His hobbies included doing various home projects, bowling, table tennis, boxing and karate. If he wasn’t partaking in those things, he was off to the casino to play Baccarat, Roulette, or Black Jack, or doing something as simple as Slot Machines. Renato loved music from the 50’s, singing karaoke at family gatherings, and dancing Tango.
Renato was a charismatic, suave man that could charm the hearts of anyone he met. Even in his last moments, he didn’t fail to try and charm those who were taking care of him. His ability to bring out the joy and laughter from those around him were second to none. He was a generous man, and always asking what his family needed. He always thought of everyone else before himself.
To honor this wonderful man, there will be a viewing held at Lincoln Glen Church, and a funeral service held at Oak Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park on March 11, 2020.
Dinner reception will be Tomi Buffet Eastridge at 530pm. If you can make it, please email email@example.com so we can make reservation arrangements.
