Mr. Thomas Puthenveettil Thomas, 90, of Santa Clara, California entered into eternal rest on January 24, 2021 surrounded lovingly by his family.
Thomas’ leadership and passion for Christ was evident in all parts of his life, be it in his community, ministry, or within his own family. As a community leader, Thomas started a primary school, now turned high school, in Koovakavu, Kanjirapally, Kerala, India where he was principal for several years. Thomas brought his spirit of leadership and servitude to the San Francisco Bay Area when he immigrated with his family in 1980.
Upon his arrival in the United States in the early 1980s, Thomas once more left his mark upon his community. He met with many Malayalee (of Kerala, India) families and was instrumental in organizing and conducting prayer fellowship meetings in the Bay Area to provide spiritual support to the Mar Thoma community.
With the consistent use of his God-given gifts throughout the years, Thomas has been a role model and spiritual leader for the Mar Thoma church, the Malayalee community, and his family. He was involved with various mission activities, such as the International Fellowship for Seniors, street evangelism, Prison Fellowship, and many other mission efforts.
Thomas was a God-fearing man who loved spending time with his family, reading his Bible, and watching the 49ers. He was loved by everyone he met, always had a kind word to spare for those he knew, and never failed to make each person feel loved and special.
Thomas is survived by his cherished wife, Rosamma Thomas, children, Sumol Thomas, Sabu Thomas, and Suja Oldenburg, as well as their families. He will also be fondly remembered by his sister, Rachel Thomas, brothers, John Thomas, Thomas Joseph, Dr. Thomas Mammen and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, and sisters, Aleyamma Thomas and Mariamma Abraham.
While Thomas will be dearly missed by all of those who knew him, he has left his legacy and mark imprinted upon the hearts and minds of his family and those he has known.
The funeral service will be live-streamed on February 04, 2021 at 10:30AM PST. The memorial service will be streamed via Zoom on February 05, 2021 at 7:00PM PST. For further information please visit https://www.babychayan.com/.
