OBITUARY FOR CHRISTOPHER SHAW Born: 9-1-64 Died: 4-4-26 It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Christopher Andrew Shaw on Saturday, April 4, 2026. Chris was born in the port city town of Southampton, England. At age 13, he moved with his family to Northern California. It didn’t take Chris long to develop a meaningful friend circle – a pattern that would follow him throughout life. In those early days Chris was attracted to like-minded souls interested in music, cars and having a good time. His early years in the restaurant industry inspired in him a lifelong passion for food. If you knew Chris, you very likely shared a meal with him – at a local dive, a Michelin star destination or in his home. And you wouldn’t leave the table until Chris had convinced you to try “the best prime rib you’ve ever tried, the best piece of fish you’ve ever eaten, the juiciest turkey ever made,” or “the best lamb ever prepared.” He loved consuming the best and made it his life mission to find it for himself and for you. His career in technical marketing in Silicon Valley was a successful one. His work hard mentality afforded him a play hard life giving him the opportunity to do the things he loved most like attending concerts, traveling, gardening, motorcycling and entertaining. Chris brought light and left laughter to every social situation. He lived generously and loved deeply. Chris’ fight was long and hard fought. He never once wavered in his resolve that he could beat the illnesses that challenged him for more than a decade. Chris didn’t have nine lives he had dozens and each one of them was lived to the fullest extent possible. Chris is survived by his wife of 27-years, Mary Kay Thome-Shaw, our cats, Mercury and Smokey; his nephews Dylan Jaramillo (Mallory), Christian Jaramillo (Luana), and niece, Grace Jaramillo. His in-laws, Joe Thome (Cindy Huerta), Anne Goff (Bob Hunter), Teresa Thome (Fred Stella) and nephews Sean (Rin) LaVie and Ian Goff. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Iris Shaw and his siblings Gary Shaw and Samantha Shaw. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Happy Hollow Park and Zoo.
