Kalia Marie Brillantes Villanueva

Kalia Marie Brillantes Villanueva was born on September 24, 2005 in San Jose, California. She leaves behind cherished memories and a void in our hearts. Kalia was the beloved daughter of David Gasilos Villanueva, and Rochelle Puntanilla Brillantes who migrated from the Philippines at the ages of 11 and 12, respectively. Both parents pursued successful careers in law enforcement as Correctional Officers for the State of California. She is survived by her loving parents and her adoring sisters, Kailani Mei (20 years old) and Keanna Miah (10 years old). Kalia's close-knit family was her source of joy and happiness. She shared an unbreakable bond with her sisters, and they were inseparable. Growing up, they did everything together, and Kalia selflessly cared for her little sister, always there to support and protect her. Kalia's radiant smile illuminated any room she entered. She possessed a generous, down-to-earth nature, and her simplicity and humor endeared her to everyone she met. Kalia was known for her ability to make people laugh, and she truly valued the gift of laughter. In addition to her warm personality, Kalia had a passion for sports. She excelled in Cross Country and Track n Field, where she dedicated her time and energy, always pushing herself to achieve her best. She ran races for St Jude's and various foundations, including volunteering in Martha’s Kitchen. Beyond athletics, she loved to watch sunsets. She was such a free spirit, did what she wanted to do. Not afraid to try new things, Kalia found creativity in art, painting, making ceramics and sculptures. Her artistic endeavors were a reflection of her inner beauty and warmth. She enjoyed volunteering for her Grandma Vicky’s independent facilities by prepping food for the clients and running errands for her. Her selflessness extended into the community where she'd also help feed the hungry. She had such a big heart. She thoroughly enjoyed embarking on global adventures with her family, discovering new wonders along the way. She consistently demonstrated utmost respect towards her parents, always complying with their wishes. She was a generous soul and down to earth. Kalia, a name meaning "beautiful" and defined as "beloved," embodied these qualities. Her presence in our lives was a constant reminder of the beauty and love that surrounds us. Though she is no longer with us, Kalia's memory will forever be etched in our hearts. We extend our deepest condolences to her parents, Rochelle and David, her sisters Kailani and Keanna, her grandparents Victoria Dasalla Puntanilla, Gerry Pascua Brillantes, and Perla Gasilos Villanueva, Jose Detita Villanueva (deceased) and the extended family and friends who mourn her loss. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire us to live with love and laughter.
